About the process
Canadian citizens and the permanent residents can sponsor their parents or grandparents to become permanent residents of Canada. This can be done through the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship Program. This program is basically based upon lottery system, in which the parents’ and grandparents’ visa applications are picked up. Generally, after the winter break, this program resumes on the very first
business day in January.
IRCC chooses random 10,000 applications each year, and the selected applicants are expected to submit their complete applications within 90 days.
