About the process
You can sponsor your spouse, partner or children for Permanent Residence in Canada, if you fulfill all the following criteria:
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must be a PR in Canada or Canadian citizen
- Must present the plan to live in Canada until the sponsored relative becomes the PR in Canada
- Must have sufficient funds and income to support the sponsored relative
Things to consider
In case you look forward to sponsor a spouse or a partner, you must be able to prove a genuine relationship with the sponsored candidate, and the latter must be at least 18 years old. While sponsoring a child, the child must be under 22 years old and should be unmarried. Exemptions apply only when the child is mentally or physically unstable, and is dependent on the parents’ or guardian for financial and emotional support. The sponsored family members who are over the age of 18 will need to undergo medical examination and will also need to share police certificates. .
